Author of Beyond the CRM · Founder of CampaignAI

John Boladian is a business operator, marketer and systems strategist whose experience spans customer acquisition, commercial printing, sales, logistics, production workflows and day-to-day business operations. His work focuses on a practical question: what should happen after a real customer opportunity enters the business?

Author perspective

What shaped the Beyond the CRM framework?

Years of working across customer acquisition and business operations revealed a recurring gap: companies often invest in generating opportunity before building the response, ownership, follow-up, operational and retention systems required to manage that opportunity effectively. Beyond the CRM turns that observation into a practical revenue infrastructure framework.

Experience behind the framework

Business systems viewed from both sides of the customer journey.

The common thread is not a single industry. It is seeing how marketing promises, employee workflows, production capacity and customer expectations have to work together.

01

Marketing & customer acquisition

John's experience includes advertising, direct mail, print marketing, digital campaigns and business development. That work led to a core principle behind CampaignAI: a campaign should not end when the advertisement is delivered. The response path, customer conversation and eventual business outcome should be measurable whenever practical.

02

Operations & workflow

His background includes estimating, purchasing, inventory, employee training, logistics, customer service and production coordination. That operating perspective is why Beyond the CRM treats sales, fulfillment and retention as parts of one connected customer journey rather than isolated departments.

03

Commercial print & production

Years in commercial printing exposed John to digital, sheet-fed, wide-format and flexographic production environments. Production makes one principle obvious: equipment alone does not create an effective operation. Work requires defined inputs, ownership, handoffs, quality controls and measurable outputs. CRM and automation work the same way.

04

Entrepreneurship & sales

Business ownership, outside sales, franchise operations and customer account development provided a direct view of what happens between generating demand and delivering the promised outcome. That gap between opportunity and execution became one of the central ideas behind CampaignAI.

Technology should support a well-designed business process—not become the process itself. CRM, AI and automation are most valuable when they help people respond faster, preserve context, create clear ownership, reduce repetitive work and improve management visibility.

Why the book was written

Many businesses do not have a lead problem first.

They have an infrastructure problem.

Beyond the CRM

A business can generate calls, form submissions, referrals and inquiries while still losing revenue through missed calls, slow response, inconsistent follow-up, unclear ownership, disconnected operations and weak retention.

Beyond the CRM examines what should happen between the moment a campaign creates an opportunity and the moment that opportunity becomes measurable revenue—and what should happen after the sale to protect and extend the customer relationship.

The result is a practical framework connecting marketing, customer response, sales, operations, retention and revenue accountability.

Revenue Infrastructure Framework

Acquire → Operate → Retain → Measure

The framework connects the customer-facing journey to the operating systems required to support it.

Acquire Capture opportunity

Respond, qualify, schedule and advance legitimate customer demand.

Operate Coordinate execution

Assign ownership, manage handoffs, fulfill commitments and surface exceptions.

Retain Extend relationships

Onboard, support, measure satisfaction and create repeat or referral opportunity.

Measure Account for outcomes

Connect campaign source, customer activity and pipeline movement to business results.

CampaignAI

Turning the framework into configured infrastructure.

CampaignAI applies the same operating principles to customer acquisition, AI-assisted response, CRM, workflow automation, scheduling, retention and attribution.

A

The process comes first

A dental practice, contractor, printing company and dealership can use similar technologies while requiring very different customer journeys. The operating model determines the configuration.

B

AI supports capacity

AI is most useful when its responsibilities and boundaries are clearly defined: first response, approved information gathering, routine questions, scheduling, routing and context-rich human handoff.

C

Automation supports consistency

Automation should reduce preventable gaps without making the customer experience mechanical. Triggers, ownership, timing and stop conditions matter as much as the automated action itself.

D

Measurement creates accountability

The goal is not more dashboards. It is enough reliable evidence to understand where opportunities enter, how they move through the business and which activities contribute to meaningful outcomes.

Continue the framework

Start with the customer journey, not the software.
